Peter Daglish 1930-2016

It is with great sadness that we record the passing of Peter Daglish, artist and jazz player.

The funeral was held this morning at Mortlake Crematorium, packed with family and friends - and with the unusual sight of a jazz band playing at 10 a.m.  With sympathy to Peter's children, Ailie and Lucas.

Below are some links to some previous posts about Peter.

I lived in Mecklenburg Square, London, during
the mid 60s, where my husband at the time, John Richetti , was studying at the British Museum. Peter and Marian Daglish lived there too, with Ailie, about 2, and baby Lucas. (My then 3 year old son asked Marian “What’s the baby’s name?” When Marian replied “Lucas,” Noel was astonished. “Mucus! His name is not Mucus!)

I met Peter Daglish when he was teaching in Victoriain1968. I was a student but took part in the U Vic summer program. We went on a day trip as a class to Vancouver. He took all of us to meet Toni Onley. I was 21 and thought Mr Onli a n old man. Lol He was maybe 39. An artist work I greatly admire. I have a lithograph print from Professor Daglish of ships viewed from Beacon Hill in Victoria. Later my husband and I visited with him and his wife in Montreal in march of 69 and then later in London in 1972. In Halifax in 1983 Peter was exhibiting and was a visiting artist. We briefly crossed paths again. How I didn't know he was a jazz musician ? My husband Alex would have liked to share some tunes with him. RIP PETER My condolences to his family.
